The Old Stone Fort Museum is set to hold its annual Independence Day living history activities on Wednesday, July 4 at 1 pm on the lawn of the Revolutionary War era fort.

Fort Ticonderoga has announced a week-long celebration of Independence Day, from June 30th to July 6th.
Visitors will experience the American Revolution on the very ground the fight for liberty occurred with museum staff and costumed interpreters recreating and exploring the events of the year 1777. On Tuesday, July 4th , 2017, Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site has invited the public to attend an old-fashioned Independence Day celebration on the mansion grounds, from 11 am to 4 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
A variety of 18th century activities may be sampled throughout the afternoon. Candle demonstrations and backgammon lessons will be available, and “Dr. Stringer,” Philip Schuyler’s physician, will discuss the fascinating subject of 18th century medicine, including the use of leeches, bleeding, and oxygen. The Clermont State Historic Site in Germantown will host an Old-Fashioned Independence Day Festival on July 4th. The Festival will take place from 2 to 10 pm, and will offer activities for all ages.
From 2 to 6 pm, the museum will be surrounded by hands-on experiences taken from daily life of the 18th century. Visitors will be able to raise the liberty pole or attend polite tea parties, hear selections from “Common Sense”, firing demonstrations by Revolutionary War re-enactors, as well as a chance to meet Martha Washington.

Sagamore Hill NHS is providing day-long outdoor activities on Tuesday, July 4th, free and open to the public.
Attendees will see history come alive as Theodore Roosevelt, performed by Joe Wiegand, along with other family friendly activities offered from 11 am to 4 pm.
At 2 pm, the main program will begin with speeches and a performance from the Calliope Brass Band.

In February, more than seven tons of ice were cut from the Mill pond at the Hanford Mills Museum Ice Harvest Festival, and then stored in the Ice House. On July 4th, that ice will be used to make ice cream on a steam-powered churn, and visitors to the Museum’s Independence Day Celebration can sample the results.
The ice is used to chill the outside of the churn, while the locally produced milk and cream is inside the churn.
The Independence Day Celebration, which runs 10 am to 4 pm on July 4, also features a fishing derby for kids, frog jumping contests, music, delicious food, and field games. Visitors also can tour the historic Mill and woodworking shop and see water- and steam-power demonstrations featuring the 1926 Fitz Overshot waterwheel, the steam boiler and steam engines.
