The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation (along Honorary Co-Chairs Heather and Brian Straughter) are set to welcome spring with the 2019 Historic Homes Tour, on Saturday, May 11th, from 10 am to 4 pm. This event offers the rare opportunity to see the interiors of private historic homes of the East Side neighborhood of Saratoga Springs.
The Foundation kicks off the Historic Homes Tour with an exclusive Porch Party on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm including live music from Swing Men, wine, and light fare from Lily & The Rose Catering. Porch Party tickets are limited and cost $100.
This year, a Breakfast & Buildings event has been set for the day of the tour. Saratoga Springs City Historian Mary Ann Fitzgerald will talk about the rich history of the Van Raalte Mill in her presentation “Echoes from the Mill: Tales from Between the Lions.” This presentation will take place at the Van Raalte Mill, 125 High Rock Avenue, at 9:30 am with breakfast provided by Spring Street Deli & Pizzeria. Tickets for Breakfast & Buildings must be purchased in advance and cost $20 SSPF Members / $25 non-members.
At noon on Saturday, the Foundation will host a Lunch & Learn event at the New York State Military Museum, 61 Lake Avenue, with presentation “High Rock to High Stakes” by Charlie Kuenzel and Dave Patterson of Saratoga Tours, LLC. The presentation will focus on the founding of the village at High Rock Spring to the rise of the Canfield Casino, the waters and gambling attracted the wealth from around the country to Saratoga Springs. Boxed lunches will be provided by The Inn at Saratoga. Tickets for the Lunch & Learn event must be purchased in advance and cost $20 SSPF Members / $25 non-members. Both Breakfast & Buildings and Lunch & Learn events have limited seating.

Funds raised at this event support the Foundation’s ongoing educational programs and efforts to preserve the unique architectural, landscaped, and cultural heritage of Saratoga Springs.
