Seward Assassination Attempt Reconsidered In Auburn

Seward Assassination AttemptThe Seward House Museum has announced a program, Murder and Medicine: The Seward Assassination Attempt Reconsidered, has been set for Wednesday, October 17th, from 7:15 to 8:30 pm, at the Carriage House Theater, located behind the Cayuga Musuem on 203 Genesee St, Auburn.

Yale Clinical Professor of Pathology Dr. Gustave Davis will explain the medical history surrounding Secretary Seward’s injuries, paying attention to the original diagnoses and prescribed treatments, which included recommendations for “Electrization” and “Vacuum Cures.” Dr. Davis further explores the medical consequences of Mr. Seward’s carriage accident as well as the various illnesses suffered by Frances and Fanny Seward.

Admission is $10 for museum members, $15 for the general public. Space is limited. Reservations are recommended.
