The Time and the Valleys Museum has announced a New Volunteer Day and a program by Henry “Bucky” Green on the History of Ellenville have been set for 1 and 2 pm on Sunday, May 20th on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville, Sullivan County.
New Volunteer Day is an open house for anyone interested in learning about volunteering at the Museum. Visitors will take a tour of the Museum, meet the staff and volunteers and learn all about the different programs and projects that need volunteer assistance. The perks and benefits of volunteering, including a discount in the shop, travel reimbursement and free admission to programs will also be presented. This program is free and open to people of all ages with an interest in history and a willingness to help.
At 2 pm, Henry “Bucky” Green, Town of Wawarsing Historian and member of the Ellenville Public Library and Museum’s advisory board advisory will give a presentation on the history of Ellenville and his Images of America book on Ellenville. Using beautiful photos and interesting text, Mr. Green brings Ellenville’s history to life. From it’s interesting citizens, beautiful architecture, and diverse industries such as the D& H Canal, tourist resorts, tanneries, glassworks, a bottling plant and more, Ellenville’s rich 200-year-old history unfolds in an easy to understand way. Books will be available for sale, and light refreshments are included.
The program is free for members and $3 for non-members.
