Glimmerglass: Hyde Hall in Cooperstown Lecture

Hyde HallJohn Bower, Hyde Hall Marketing Manager, is set to present an illustrated discussion of the history and preservation of Historic Hyde Hall, a fifty-room mansion in Cooperstown designed by Albany’s celebrated architect Phillip Hooker, on Saturday, May 5th at 1 pm.

This National Landmark and New York State Historic Site was built between 1817 and 1834 by George T. Clarke and served as home to five generations of the Clark Family. Hyde Hall was acquired by New York State for the development of Glimmerglass State Park in 1963 and today is operated by Hyde Hall Inc. as a house museum and regional culture center.

John Bower was born in Cheshire, England, educated at Millfield School, Somerset and Abbotsholme School, Staffordshire.  Breeder moved to the USA in 1988 and worked in the pet food industry. After attending seminary and serving as the Rector of the Charismatic Episcopal Church in Stuart, Florida for 12 years, he moved to Cherry Valley and presently serves as Marketing Manager at Hyde Hall.

This program takes place in the Oneida County History Center’s (OCHC) main gallery, 1608 Genesee Street, Utica.
