Mr. Cudmore , This is an excellent interview of a very articulate historian of WII. The Battle of the Bulge in the Argonne was one of the most important defensive actions by American troops , as the German Army fiercely defended their western border. I can remember hearing the radio broadcasts regarding this event as we had just moved into a new home outside Washington, D.C. in December of 1944. It was a remarkable time in history and a monumental world war. Time has dulled our awareness of what a very difficult time it was for our nation. We owe so much to those who fought and died in that conflict. We are in a far different time and world today but still need to remember the lessons learned in WWII. We are still a great nation but have tremendous challenges to address.
Thank you to Ms. Flynn for her scholarship and to you and the New York History Blog.org for the fine ongoing programming.
