The Cayuga Museum of History and Art is set to re-open for the 2018 season with a new initiative, the CNY Emerging Artist Project.
Showcasing nine emerging artists from the Central New York region, this juried exhibit series will feature a different artist each month, from March to November.
The series begins Thursday, March 15 with James Caito. Now an independent artist for hire, Caito worked for 9 years as the Props Master/Set Designer for the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse Youth Theatre Tour. Caito puts a unique spin on collage with his exploration of chaos through saturated colors, multiple textures and handmade paper. Caito will do an Artist Talk at 6 pm during the Cayuga Museum’s April First Friday event, which is free and open to the public.
Each CNY Emerging Artist show will open with a reception on the third Thursday of the month from 5 to 7:30 pm. Admission is $5, and Museum members are free. Refreshments will be served.
The Cayuga Museum of History and Art is located at 203 Genesee Street, in Auburn.
The complete list of Emerging Artists to be featured throughout 2018 is posted on the Cayuga Museum website.
