Future of Museums Conference July 24th

By on

squareThe Future of Museums Conference, a collaborative global conversation about technology, museums, and the future will be a free, online event held from 10am – 5pm US-Eastern Time on July 24th, 2014, and will feature keynote speakers and crowdsourced presentations.

Attendees can expect to learn best practices to implement in their museums, and will hear real-world examples of innovative practices in the field.

Conference strands are focused on four main themes from the NMC Horizon Report > 2013 Museum Edition by New Media Consortium:

  • Bring Your Own Device
  • Location-Based Services
  • Crowdsourcing
  • Makerspaces

Curators, creators, innovators, museum professionals, and educators are encouraged to present.

There is no cost to attend. Instructions and the schedule of sessions will be here.

The call for proposals for the conference opened Thursday, May 15th. Presenters can submit proposals for general sessions focused on one of the strands listed above. While the final deadline for submissions is Monday, July 21st, presenters will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis. There is a motivation for early submission and acceptance, as presenters schedule their own presentation times as a part of the process and the options become more limited as time goes on.

As a conference that is focused on being participatory, new presenters as well as more experienced ones are encouraged to submit to present.
